Start Your Grandchild's Visit Before They Even Leave Home
Introduction
Most grandparents think the visit starts when a grandchild arrives.
But, we can actually get it started much sooner. Get them excited. Start the anticipation.
A simple photo.
A short video.
A mysterious clue.
Let your grandchild imagine the moments they will spend with you…before they even leave home. The anticipation will get your visit together off to a strong start the minute they walk in the door…because they’ve already warmed up. They’re excited, and ready, already anticipating the adventures ahead!
Because anticipation isn't just about waiting.
Anticipation creates connection in the moments before you’re even together.

INTRODUCTION
My grandson is coming to visit soon.
So of course I've been thinking about all the things we're going to do together.
The funny thing is...
Even though it’s later this summer.
It’s just about to start.
LET THEM START IMAGINING THE ADVENTURES
Over the next few weeks, I'll probably send him little glimpses of what's waiting for him.
Maybe a tractor ride with his uncle.
Maybe our favorite ice cream shop.
Maybe a secret picnic spot overlooking the creek.
Or maybe just a quick video of two dogs who can't wait for him to get here.
And every time I send one of those little videos, something interesting happens.
The visit gets a little closer.
Not on the calendar.
But in his imagination.
CONNECT THROUGH THE ANTICIPATION
Children have a wonderful ability to step into experiences before they happen.
They imagine.
They wonder.
They anticipate.
And that anticipation becomes part of the experience itself.
I've come to believe that anticipation isn't just waiting.
Anticipation is connection.
CLOSING
So, if you have a grandchild visiting this summer, don't wait until they arrive to begin making memories.
Send a photo.
Send a video.
Share a little glimpse of what you're excited to do together.
Because the visit doesn't start when they walk through the door.
It starts the moment they begin looking forward to seeing you.
